Webber Naturals ~ GIVEAWAY!!

A while back I had a great chat with a Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine from Webber Naturals. Although our family is fortunate enough to not have any serious health concerns, we do try to be healthy and prevent conditions from arising. It was interested to discuss general health with Dr. Joyce Johnson, ND, and also a few specific issues, such as the history of heart disease and asthma on both sides of the family.

Webber Pharmaceuticals is a Canadian company making a wide range of natural health products. You may have seen products labelled Webber Naturals on shelves in your local drugstore or supermarket. Their products include vitamins and multivitamins, probiotics, omega oils, echinacea and many other supplements. As well, one of their subsidiaries, Holista produces items like tea tree oil and oregano oil. All of their manufacturing takes place in Canada, with as many locally sourced "ingredients" as possible. Something that surprised and impressed me is that they grow their own echinacea in the Okanagan Valley, so that they can control the whole process from seed right to supplement. Some products' basic components come from other countries, but all are compounded in Canada at one of North America's largest state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities for health supplements.

Based on our chat, Dr. Joyce gathered some Webber Naturals products for our family to try. There are many more products available - so be sure to check if a supplement you need or in which you are interested is made by webber naturals. Email and/or phone support from webber naturals is available; by contacting customer service, your query will either be answered right away, if possible, or forwarded on to an expert for follow-up. As well, there's a great online support resource, The Webber Naturals Community section, where you will find blogs from the Webber Naturals experts, FAQ's and other information.

Here is a list of products we tried, and what we noticed. Please remember that this is our family's experience, and that yours might be very different.

Triple Strength Omega3: Enteric coated, to prevent "taste repetition" :), although Richard did have some burping issues. I found the capsules on the large size, and a bit difficult to swallow, but I have trouble with swallowing capsules more often. I didn't have so much trouble with burping though.

Omega-3 for Kids: available in capsules and liquid - our children didn't like the liquid but others might. Be careful to not spill the liquid on clothing etc as the resulting stain and odour is very hard to remove.

Vitamin D3 tablets: They always say we should be careful to get enough Vitamin D for our kids, but of course we adults need it as well. Vitamin D aids in calcium absorption as well as supporting the immune system.

Vitamin D3 chewable tablets: the kids love these, and I have to hide them or they'd be all gone at once. A very pleasant taste, and an easy way to supplement the Vitamin D, especially in the winter.

Multisure for Women and Multisure for Men: Multivitamins are available in compositions for Women, Men, Women 50+, Men 50+, children, prenatal etc. I'm still using a prenatal vitamin, so I haven't switched over to Multisure for Women yet (I still need the extra iodine, among other things, for nursing mothers). Richard is using the Multisure for Men and it's working well for him.

PGX: adds a significant amount of fibre to your daily intake, so begin slowly and build up! Originally "discovered" as a way of controlling blood sugar levels for diabetics, PGX also has a weight-loss effect as well as supporting heart health. PGX is available in capsules or in granules.

MediGar Maximum strength Garlic: easy to swallow, and enteric coated - no issues with burping here! Garlic is great for your heart, and this is a simple, and odourless :) way of adding more to your diet.

B50 capsules: easy to swallow. B vitamins are important for healthy nerves, skin, eyes, liver and mouth, and to maintain good muscle tone in the gastrointestinal tract.

Tea Tree Oil: Great for disinfecting wounds - we've noticed that infected cuts clear up quite quickly and easily, with no unpleasant stinging. Also, skin blemishes disappear faster. We've also used this for house cleaning - floors (we're toilet training around here!), toilet seats, taps etc have all benefited from a good scrub with water mixed with tea tree oil. Available in dropper bottles of a variety of sizes.

Webber Naturals products are available in neighbourhood pharmacies, grocery stores and other retailers across Canada and in the US.
